Carla Wilson, CDC Project Manager

Hi, I’m Carla! I’m from Laurel, MD, and I’m a recent graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. During my time at St. Mary’s College, I learned how vital community-building is to a person’s health, and realized I had a passion for the work. I knew I wanted to work at a non-profit that helped people feel a sense of belonging and safety within whatever community they’re a part of. I have a specific interest in helping those who struggle with mental health issues and people in the LGBTQ+ community, though as a whole I aim to help underserved communities.

In the fall of 2022, I was a student in Taylor’s class on non-profits where I first learned about St. Mary’s CDC. I reached out to Taylor after the end of the semester with my interest in the organization and became an intern in January, 2023. Three months later, and I’m part of the team! For the past few years I’ve been in southern Maryland, Lexington Park has really grown on me. I’ve seen how passionate people are about the community, and am grateful for the opportunity to support the community here through St. Mary’s CDC!

Some more info about me: I love listening to all different types of music, especially while driving on the winding roads around St. Mary’s County. I enjoy anything crafty, especially crocheting! I also enjoy writing and graphic design.
