Lyn Wescoe Wins Lexington Park Alive! Mural Competition

Posted in General, Murals, Public Art

Lyn Wescoe submitted the winning entry in Lexington Park, Maryland’s first mural competition with a high contrast, black and white array of images integrating the variety of the community.

Ms. Wescoe’s was not the only entry to emphasize the Chesapeake Bay and the region’s rural heritage alongside the cutting edge, high tech aviation culture that created Lexington Park. But there were also other images of Lexington Park as well. All of the entries are shown below and St. Mary’s County Community Development would like to fine homes for them all on walls or other public venues throughout Lexington Park.

With a grant from the Southern Maryland Heritage Area preparation will be made to produce Ms. Wescoe’s mural on the back of Bank Square Building visible from the intersection of Shangri-La/Willows Drive and Great Mills Road.

Stay tuned for details coming soon! Join the CDC to keep in touch with public art opportunities and progress in Lexington Park.

St. Mary’s County Community Development is actively seeking homes for the other outstanding entries. Give us a call or e-mail if you know of a wall that might fit one of the designs below:
