Currently Watch Over Plots:

  • A6 until 5/19

Going Away?

Let Carla know or write your name and plot number on the board! Be sure to add a yellow tag to your bed and color your plot in yellow on the map on the door (using the dry erase markers on the table).

Free Stuff!

Feel free to place/take anything from underneath standing bed C1 (our communal standing bed). Click here to see the map.

Have something you want to give away but don’t want to leave at the garden? Write it on the board below!

New Compost

If you need more compost, we have some in large bags near the old pile. Please only use this if you need it! We still need plenty for the public section.

Once you’re done, please close the bag back to avoid weed seeds getting in and the nutrients leaking out.

Watering & Irrigation

Hoses

Please wrap hoses up after using them

Nov-April

Turn on/off blue lever & detatch hoses

May-Oct

Leave blue lever UP & hoses attached

To turn on water:

  1. Attach hose to spicket (righty tighty, lefty loosey)
  2. Pull up blue lever
  3. Turn black lever on green head to run wate

Before leaving, BE SURE TO:

  1. Pull down lever
  2. Drain hose
  3. Wrap hose around hanger
  4. Detach hose from spicket

Only touch the lever directly above the hose to turn it on/off (see right).

No need to attach/detach hoses or move the blue lever. Please do not touch the lever above the grey component (this is the irrigation offshoot).

Irrigation

Our irrigation system will be up and running in the next couple of weeks! Please set up your drip tape soon if you would like to have irrigation in your plot. See the slides below for all info.

Install Irrigation by Carla Wilson

Finding the right tubes:

The irrigation tubes are slightly different lengths for Standing vs. Raised beds, so we separated them out – the ones hanging along the wall are Standing Bed tubes (wooden beds) and the ones in the blue laundry bins underneath (labeled “short”) are for the raised beds (metal). See the below picture.

Water Barrels

Currently: Water barrel in center of garden

Coming soon: Water barrels along back of shed

Directions:

  1. Ensure the tab is parallel with the hose – it’s currently taped to avoid confusion.
  2. Squeeze trigger – you may need to hold the hose down towards the ground to help the water come out
  3. Fill watering can!

Prepping & Maintaining Your plot

  1. Help yourself to tools and gloves! Before leaving, please wipe off the tools with a rag and water.

  2. To fill your plot, you can either:

    1. Bring your own organic soil supplement

    2. Use the Master Lock code to access the compost pile from the back gate. The compost pile is the small pile of darker material in between the two mulch piles.

Would you like assistance with weeding or filling your plot? Let us know!

Renter Requirements

  1. Abide by LMPP Rules & Expectations
  2. Required volunteering

For everyone’s convenience, rather than requiring you to attend a specific day, we require that you attend Public Hours for at least one hour (OR complete another task for the garden outside of Public Hours) twice throughout the season – once between March-June and once between September-November. Some of you have already done this! I’ll continue to send out reminders to those who haven’t attended yet as the season goes on.
